Design Tools in Arabic

The International Rescue Committee | Amman, Jordan | 2019

I traveled to Jordan to lead creation of a dual language website in English and Arabic. The website was a final product for the Mahali Lab, a community-led design incubator working with refugees in Amman.

Capturing Design tools in Arabic

About the report

Throughout the course of the Mahali Lab project, a number of tools were developed to use the human-centered design approaches in this context. Many tools were adapted from existing approaches to better fit the needs of the refugees, and all were translated into Arabic. This final report sought to share the experiences of participants in the incubator, while also supporting human-centered design in the region with these new tools. The website was met with great enthusiasm by the donor, which placed an emphasis on capturing and sharing lessons learned openly.

What I did

I managed writers, designers, developers, and translators to ensure the success of the project. I traveled in-person to Jordan to get the project across the finish line by doing everything from sifting through content to facilitating goal-setting conversations between project leadership to align on the project’s purpose.

Throughout the content collation and website creation I ensured that the project stayed on-track with core organizational strategies and goals for donor relations, thought leadership, and community outreach.
